This course aims to assist in the general understanding of design as an academic discipline by exploring what design means to us, why it is necessary, and how it should be approached. It introduces the basic theories of design elements and principles that are essential in the overall field of design, especially in visual design, and enables students to intuitively grasp them through supplementary practice. Additionally, the course provides detailed discussions on the classifications and introductions of various design fields, their interrelationships and roles, and design as a profession. It also helps students acquire essential communication skills for designers, such as professional design terminology.
